With over 100 juniors expected to register at the club for season 2025 – Barrow CC will be fielding teams at U9, U11, U13, U15, U16 and U17 level as well as running the Barrow All Stars 2025 (5-8 years olds) and hosting once a month training for our U7 & U8’s.
This will be the only the third time in the club’s history that the club has been able to offer cricket for children aged between 5 and 17. Very few clubs in Cheshire are able to offer the level of junior cricketing opportunities for juniors as we are at Barrow CC. These opportunities are made possible by the commitment of a number of coaches and team managers as well as dedicated parents.

There is much anticipation at the start of the junior season. With high attendance at the indoor junior winter training sessions each junior age group is looking strong in terms of both numbers and talented players.

The recently created U17’s team, coached by Gareth Hughes and managed by Henrik Pold will be competing in the prestigious CCCL U17 Hundred Competition as well as for the third time playing in the Wirral SMASH8 competition. Fixtures will predominately take place later in the season to allow juniors to concentrate on examinations. Training night will be on a Wednesday, with the Senior Men, and home games will be played where possible on either a Monday or Tuesday evening at Barrow CC.

We will again be running an U16’s team to compete in the County Cup. They will be representing the club in the John North U16 Cup and have been drawn at home to Oxton in round 1. The U16’s will be coached by our 1st team overseas player, Logan Malthus, and managed by Henrik Pold. Training night will be on a Tuesday and home games will be played where possible on either a Monday or Tuesday evening at Barrow CC

The U15’s, will be managed by Lucy Stuchbury and coached by our Lee Dwyer. They will be competing in the North Cheshire Junior Cricket Association league and cup. Training night will be on a Tuesday and home games will be played where possible on a Monday evening at Barrow CC.

Our U13 side, coached by Jon Linford, Matt Davenport & Mark Allen and managed by Anita Dwyer, will be playing in the North Cheshire Junior Cricket Association league and cup. The U13 will usually be playing their games on Sunday mornings and their training night will be on a Friday evening at Barrow CC.

The U11s will be competing in the North Cheshire Junior Cricket Association Hardball Cricket league and cup and well as competing in some soft ball friendly matches and softball festivals. The U11’s will be coached & managed by Andries Bentley. Training night will be on a Friday and home games will be played where possible on Tuesday evening at Barrow CC.

Our U9 squad, many of whom have progressed on from our highly successful All-Stars programme, will be coached by Glen Marriott & Amy Wyatt and managed by Jon Shingfield. They will be competing in the North Cheshire Junior Cricket Association Softball Cricket League and their training night will be on a Friday with home games being played, where possible on Wednesday evening at Barrow CC.

Our U7’S & U8’s will train once a month on the first Friday of the month at Barrow CC and will be coached by Rob Pilbrow, Matt Pimblett and Mikey Holliday. These sessions will be free. U7'S & U8'S do not need to buy junior membership.

And last but not least – we aim to have 24 eager and keen to learn 5-8 year olds signed up for this years Barrow All Stars. Every Saturday morning for 8 weeks in May and June, a pool of All Star Activators, led by Rob Pilbrow will be developing the talents of our future club stars.

So, with an anticipated 100 junior members and 70 games being arranged all systems are now go for an exciting and hopefully successful dry season for all junior teams. Good luck to all those involved. Thanks to all the coaches, managers, parents, and others involved in junior cricket at Barrow CC. We truly have a very special junior set up at the club for this season. And finally, a special thank you to our junior sponsors for their continued support and kit suppliers Kukri.
